First goose eggs!!!

I knew they were burying them. LJ didn't believe they'd bury them. I went out and dug through the nests today and..... TAADAA! 7 of them between two nests!

I wished mine were setting. Instead, they just kick them to the curb.

Wow. They are HUGE! Congratulations! :-)

MDR, do you mean that yours push them out of the nests?

These are out first geese, and they're nearly a year old. I'm stoked that none of the eggs were broken. I've been giving them oyster shell for about a month now, in prep for laying, and all the shells were strong and well formed. Stoked!

They did great last year but this time around they lay and and will not set. They come back and kick the egg laid out and lay another one. I guess they are not ready to do broody yet.

Wow. No wonder people got excited about the goose that laid a golden egg. They're massive.

Oh, my god, dude. I love that feeling! Unearthing food is the most lovely of all.

You going to eat the eggs or have them hatch out?

Chai Chai and Carolyn, we've been eating them. They're super rich and yolk-ey, and make fantastic scrambled eggs. We may let the ladies sit a nest if one or two seem so inclined in a couple weeks. I've saved a couple to blow out and make into Christmas tree ornaments (yep, Lana, can't resist!).
