Are we talking the pigs or the pig chow here?

Both? :)

So cute yet potentially so yummy! I just do not have the space or gumption to raise swine, I do want to try my hand at making hams, bacon etc..
Good luck with them! What breed are they?

Lol. We have the space, and seem to find the time, so we figured why not. We've even kicked around the idea of breeding pigs in the future.

They're yorkshires. Supposed to be, anyway. Might be a little mutt. :)

Oh, this is exciting...what are your plans for these little (soon to be BIG) ones?

Miriam, they're destined to fill freezers. Two for us and two for a friend.

I constantly dream of having enough space to raise hogs for meat. There is something so satisfying about raising your own meat and knowing exactly what goes into it.
Great book to read from a local dude who raises and butchers his own hogs (among other things)and goes into interesting detail of the process of, well, processing pork - Kurt Timmermeister's "Growing a Farmer: How I Learned To Love Th land".
He owns Kurtwood Farms on Vashon Island, up here in Washington.

Thanks for the book tip off, Lindsey! I'll have to check it out. Extra cool that he's somewhat local. :)
