Chilly spring!

Ok, perhaps snow this time of year is normal where you are. I was surprised to come out to snow yesterday morning. Only a couple inches, but still. I wonder if the elevation we now live at will affect my growing season... Hmmm. It was below freezing and frosty at the house this morning. Brr!

Piggies are starting to get a bit more friendly. They actually came out of their hut when we called them last night, and came flooding out when they saw me put food in their tub. :) The sliced apple they got for dessert may have won them over. We'll see. Perhaps we can open up the rest of their pen to them this weekend.

Sweet Girl, one of the goslings, suddenly has tail feathers coming in! She's the largest, and the first to have visible feathers, but you can feel the feather pins under the down of the others. A few more weeks, and those stinky babies can go OUTSIDE. Yay!

It is supposed to be spring... I have my doubts, though the lilacs say otherwise. Supposed to get a touch of nice weather today and tomorrow and I'm going to soak up all the sun I can.

Happy Friday!

Certainly no snow here in south Georgia, but we did suffer a little cool snap last week. I got a little greedy and planted the garden early. It's suffering, but I think everything just might make it. Good looking group of pigs you have. Thanks for sharing the pictures!

I'm going to guess that you'd probably do all right to be planting the same way that Nita at Throwback at Trapper Creek does, but she once told me that it's not so much elevation as it is the amount of light things are getting. I understand that, but elevation has to count too. She might be higher than you; I think she's over in the Hood River area.

And oh yeah- my sister in law said they snow at the coast yesterday- well, she's eleven miles inland but you know what I mean.

I think the cold snap was my fault- I put my two citrus trees outside for the first time since I potted them up yesterday.

Citrus? Outside? Totally your fault! Lol. Putting citrus outside or washing the car... both anger the weather gods. :)

I'm not sure how my elevation compares to hers. We're at about 1000'. I know that light is an important factor, but temperature should be as well, and it's colder up at the new place than it is down by the river. My peas sure didn't appreciate the snow! Ah well. I'll see how the first season goes and adjust from there.

Lots of spring weather here in s. Illinois. Dogwoods, Red buds, daffodils and now my iris are coming up. Oh and yes, the lilac bush is gorgeous and smells wonderful!!!

It is a chilly spring isn't it. Lee told me that the temps are supposed to be in the low 30s the next couple of nights and I groaned. Maybe by the time May gets here I will start feeling warm again. :)
