Why ducks line the fence when they see "the cup"

If I walk outside, carrying "the cup", they watch... And wait. This was the 2nd cup of slugs collected this evening. Oregon sure is great for slugs (of manageable size... WA is ridiculous. Damn banana slugs).

The slugs especially like the places where the chicken tractor and its assorted poultry have rested. Easy pickins and happy waterfowl. :)

Must use the cup, as slugs have different sorts of slime. Some thin, and some like glue which literally has to be SCRAPED off... Absolutely will NOT wash off. Yuck.

ok- this is really gross: my SIL has a friend who eats slugs for escargot. Theoretically, I don't see why this wouldn't work, I mean, intellectually, it makes sense and everything.

but I can't help it- that's just gross!

We DO have banana slugs! And just plain old huge slugs, too, that are not of the banana persuasion.

I found a big brown one that was the size of my hand the other day. I threw it to the chickens, just to see what would happen.

Slug keep-away is better than watching tv sometimes!

When I had ducks (my poor sweet ducks who were murdered by a raccoon. I loved those ducks.) I would give them sluggy treats and they went BALLISTIC. It was great.

We have slugs. Lots and lots of slugs. Big 'uns and little 'uns. They're all gross.

I had a friend who used to use slug goo to seal cuts on her hands. Better than crazy glue, she claimed. Speaking of crazy...

Dirty Ravens ! You are right, they will take babies. Hey, did the hens on turkey eggs hatch out yet ? You will have to watch those too. I wish those crows and ravens would stick to eating road kill !
