Our rooster is an @$&@#%!, but my turkey toms are MY HEROES!!!

Ok, no posting for a while then bam bam, two in a row! Was out throwing scratch to the ladies, and was hand feeding a couple of our toms. Out of nowhere, Dunderhead jumps in and spurs me through the fence. $&@%!! Well, the toms didn't take too kindly to Dunder attacking me, and two of them cornered and WHALLOPED him! Atta boys! I laughed til I cried, then gave the toms a bit more scratch and went in to scrub my new battle scars.

Chai Chai- I didn't either. Go figure, eh? Apparently my toms really do like me. Lol.

Ouch! Those are nasty! I was attacked by a cockerel once - he was a really nasty SOB and he was only 23 weeks old. We ate him.

Wow Rae- that is some scratch! I didn't know turkeys were smart enough to know 1) you're the food source and 2) you don't f___ with the food source, much less that they're protective.

I'll be interested to know if D-head continues to attack you or if he's learned his lesson.

But how cool they avenged you like that!

Miriam, good for you! :)

Paula, we'll see how it goes. Dunder and I REALLY don't get along well. If one of the new boys is nice looking and good sized, we may replace the old jerk. I may have to wait one more season, though. I want some more ameraucana mixes. :)

I don't tolerate aggressive roosters, they have to get out of the gene pool if they play bad.
We have one rooster now, he is nice and polite to people and hens alike. If you were to throw a piece of bread to him, he calls the hens and gives it to them.
