Beautiful evening!

Perfect temperature, and a clear sky.

Weighed one of the Cornish X chickens yesterday, an average sized pullet, and she weighed in at a little over 7 lbs. Sweet! Two weeks to go...

Been really busy, prepping for Mom's visit. Still lots to do!

Hope everyone had a great 4th!

Wow, they really do pack on weight fast, don't they? Our Buffs and Australorps and growing tall fast, but in a skinny/leggy kind of way. It will be a while before the cockerels (destined for the stewpot) are meaty enough (I was going to say "beefy enough" but that's not right, is it?!!) for eating.

How do you weigh them? My Buff Orpingtons are getting rather large. They are well fed and very happy. I have just LOVED having chickens! Where are the pictures woman? ? ?

:-) Hope your visit with your mom includes lots of fun. I miss my mom every day...sure wish she was hear to drive me a bit nuts! haha

Have a great upcoming weekend!

Lana- The best way would probably be a hanging scale. Unfortunately, we don't have one, yet. So, I picked up a chicken, weighed us on the bathroom scale, and then weighed just myself. Not perfect, but approximate works for us. :)

I will post pics soon, promise. Problem is, we live so far out in the boonies, we only have dial up. Yeah. Not paying for that. So, I can only post pics when I can link up my laptop at work. Sigh. Pain in the butt.

The Mom weekend is going to be awesome. I talk to her 5 days a week, no joke. She's only been up here twice since I moved here nearly 7 years ago, and hasn't yet seen our new place. Can't wait 'til she gets here!

Miriam- porky, beefy, meaty... They all work for me!!!
