My, how the goslings have grown!

So, these are the goslings that I hatched in the incubator a few weeks ago. That's Jiminy in the front, Meat Goose behind, and their pet duck (Crusty) on the right. They're currently living in the recently vacated duck tractor. Every evening, I let them out for a walk and some socializing. They're way too much fun. I do love geese!

What happy goslings! I must confess I am yearning for a little variety in our all-chicken poultry population - I think a gosling or two would be a very nice addition!

They are a lot of fun to have around, but if you do decide to get geese, and don't intend to breed them, get females. Previously friendly males go a "little" unfriendly around breeding time. Hence Sweet Boy now name Bitor. Lol.

Oh, look - they're goose-stepping. How ever do you come up with such great names for all your pets, er, I mean farm animals?

Crusty! that's awesome.

I was walking by the river today and saw Canadian goslings for the first time. There were three, and they were be watched over by two very attentive parents. I thought it was pretty cool.

I keep geese around just for the snakes. A couple of years ago we killed 18 chicken snakes. No with the geese we have only seen one (knock on wood)
Great picture.

I like the fact that they have a pet duck!

Charade, we just pick names that suit. :) That little duck was always crusted with the food that it played in. Thus "Crusty". Jiminy is named after a gimpy tv character, as she was spraddle legged and had to be hobbled during her first day of life.

MDR, that's cool that your geese serve as a snake deterrent. :) I haven't noticed ours having a difference on the snakes, though our chickens.... Yeah, no snakes in the chicken yard. Our chickens will eat any snake they can catch! Lol.
