The girls gave us 4 eggs today. Looks like another girl started laying, as the most before this was 3. :)
*** So, having bought a digital scale today, we weighed the monster egg. It weighed in at 2.3oz, exact same weight as an extra large we plucked at random from the store egg carton. :)

WOW! I wonder if we'll get some eggs that big? This so exciting because it always seems as if we are about a week behind you in chicken and egg events!
I just posted pictures of our eggs cracked open. It was hysterical.

Paula- was a little shocking to find such a large egg, but yes, very cool!
Lana- we haven't eaten any yet. We were waiting for enough to have a meal together. Gonna have a yummy breakfast tomorrow. :)
I've read on several groups and chicken websites that egg size can be quite random when chickens start laying. One person even said you only get jumbo eggs from new layers.
I found that one hard to believe.
But still. Congratulations! Your eggs look great and I can't wait until we can have chickens.
